Over the weekend, the rapper let it be down that “deep down inside [he] wanna release another old town road remix.” The confession led to fans blowing up his mentions as they name-dropped their favorite singers they want to see thrown into the mix. Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Mariah Carey and Daddy Yankee were among the names tossed out.

What he and fans probably didn’t expect was for the legendary pop diva to respond back herself. And it seems like Mimi is here for a possible collaboration.

Mariah playfully suggested that the rapper's viral hit could be mashed up with her 1995 mega-hit with Boyz II Men, "One Sweet Day." She replied with a cryptic photo of herself donning a black cowboy hat, simply captioning it “One Sweet Town Road.” 

The 20-year-old was quick to let it be known that he was more than here for her suggestion, responding, “Ok Mariah Carey, let's get this remix in.”

This wouldn’t be Lil Nas’ first time with speaking things into existence. He roped Billy Ray Cyrus into featuring on his track with a tweet after it got kicked off the Billboard’s Hot Country chart, so all the power to the 20-year-old. After the controversial decision, Lil Nas put it out there that he wanted Cyrus to feature on “Old Town Road,” writing, “Twitter, please help me get Billy Ray Cyrus on this.” 

As they say, the rest is history.

And if Mimi and Lil Nas do link up, he might make history again. Last week, Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” held on to its No. 1 spot atop Billboard for its 14th week in a row. At this point, only two songs stand between Lil Nas taking the crown for the longest running song atop Billboard’s Hot 100. 

Mariah and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" was the sole holder of the title until Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's Justin Bieber-featuring smash hit tied with the ballad in 2017 for the longest-running number-one song on the chart at 16 weeks.
