Husband Of Missing Georgia Woman Imani Roberson Arrested, Charged With Her Death

Investigators suspect that Imani Roberson, a mother of four, was a domestic abuse victim.

Police arrested the husband of Imani Roberson, a missing Georgia mother of four, and charged him with her murder in what they suspect is a domestic violence case.

Rockdale County, Ga., Sheriff Eric Levett told reporters Saturday (Aug. 5) that officers arrested Donell Anderson Friday (Aug. 4) after his wife’s body was recovered that day, CNN reports. Authorities charged Anderson with felony murder, malice murder, and aggravated assault, along with possession of a firearm during commission to attempt a felony.

Roberson’s mother, Clarine Andujar-White, last saw her daughter alive on July 16 when Roberson was driving home with two of her children after visiting for dinner.

Andujar-White went to Roberson’s house the next day after several failed attempts to contact her daughter by phone. When Andujar-White arrived, Roberson’s home was empty, so she reported her daughter missing on July 17 to the police.

"When I couldn't reach Imani almost three weeks ago, I knew something was wrong. Late last night, my worst fears were confirmed, and our family is devastated," the grieving mother said at the press conference, according to Atlanta station WXIA.

Levett said detectives started their investigation immediately after receiving the missing person report. They suspected “foul play” because blood was found in Roberson’s home and several other places.

Investigators found her car more than a week later. It had been set ablaze. Roberson’s body was found eventually with help from police dogs.

Levett said he expected to arrest a second suspect in the case.

At the press conference, Levett urged individuals in abusive domestic relationships to alert someone, adding, “It is not worth keeping quiet and we need for you to step out and say something so we can end such tragedies like this.”

Atlanta’s WSB reports that Roberson’s youngest child is a 1-month-old infant. Her other children are 3, 9, and 11 years old. They are now in their grandparents’ custody.
