3 Songs From Jazmine Sullivan’s 'Heaux Tales' Album That Prove Why It's Nominated For ‘Album of the Year’
Jazmine Sullivan’s highly anticipated fourth studio album, Heaux Tales, arrived at the top of the year and quickly became a tough act to follow, especially after the soul singer had already shot off two warning shots with her singles “Lost Ones” and “Pick Up Ya Feelings," which earned the songwriter her first No. 1 record.
Going into the 2021 Soul Train Awards, the Grammy nominated artist is up against some of the music industry’s best for the prestigious honor of “Album of the Year.” Ahead of this year’s ceremony we’re taking a look at three songs from Jazmine’s album that prove why she’s nominated.
“Girl Like Me” ft. H.E.R.
One of Jazmine’s more vulnerable tracks, the songstress deals with rejection and struggles to figure out where things went wrong in her relationship despite being a “good girl.”
“Pick Up Your Feelings”
This is the second single from Heaux Tales and dominated the Billboard's Adult R&B chart. The R&B and soul songstress also gave a beautiful performance of this song at the 2020 Soul Train Awards.
“Lost One”
This acoustic ballad is the lead single from the album, as per usual, written by the singer herself. It was later covered by vocal powerhouse Avery Wilson.
Watch the 2021 Soul Train Awards on Sunday, November 28 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET and BET Her.
