Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek Talk Creating "Revolutions Per Minute"

After a 10-year hiatus, Talib and Hi-Tek are back and they're playing for keeps. The dynamic duo just released their sophomore effort "Revolutions Per Minute" yesterday (May 18), a project their core fan base has been patiently waiting for.

According to Brooklyn spitter Talib Kweli, a high point in creating this opus was finally giving the fans something they've been craving since their first set "Train Of Thought" back in 2000.

My favorite part of the album was getting together with my favorite producer and giving the people something that they’ve been asking for and something that we’ve been wanting to do for a long time," Kweli told BET.com. "Timing is everything and now is the right time for us to get back in and do it.

Never affected by the financial gain, the project's sole producer, Hi-Tek, who's kept his ear to the streets in regards to the project's feedback, is pleased by the fans' approval of the LP.

The feedback has been very good," Tek shared. "We have a real core fan base, die-hard fans who are in love with what we do genuinely. The feedback’s been great.

Hi-Tek also detailed that though success from both parties somewhat delayed the creation of "Revolutions Per Minute," the commitment from both sides is what brought the project home.

My favorite part of working  on this album and coming back together was getting the album done and complete and getting the full commitment from him being that we both had success in our own ways," he explained. "So to bring it back together was a success alone.

While "Train of Thought" was a project shutting up the naysayers, Talib describes "Revolutions Per Minute" as a timeless album across the board.

I think the first album we were set out to prove that we could create an entire project and I think we proved that above the point," Kweli said of the transition from the first project to the current one. "This album, for me, creatively we wanted to make songs that stand the test of time and songs that were great whether you were in hip-hop or not.

Revolutions Per Minute" is in stores now.
