Tyler Perry Named Entertainment's Wealthiest Man

The self-starter beat out Steven Spielberg.

Move over Jay-Z and Diddy, Tyler Perry is the new face of entertainment wealth.

The Madea creator was crowned entertainment's richest person by Forbes magazine recently. Perry surpasses producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Steven Spielberg with his capital tallying to $130 million.

According to the financial monthly, the five movies Perry released in the last two years along with his two TV series, House of Payne and Meet the Browns, earned him the new title as the highest-earning man in entertainment for the time period of May 2010 to May 2011.

A take on best-selling author James Patterson’s detective Alex Cross in the movie I, Alex Cross is next on the mogul's plate. Perry will be following in the steps of Morgan Freeman, who portrayed the detective in two previous films, Along Came a Spider and Kiss the Girls with Ashley Judd
