Magic Mike XXL Box Office Fails to Cause Fireworks
Not strippers nor cyborgs could take down Jurassic World from the top of the box office this holiday weekend. The franchise reboot continued to make history with its fourth consecutive weekend in first place, grossing an additional $30.9 million for a domestic total of $558.2 million — the fourth-best of all time.
Just a hair behind, in second place, was Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out, which brought in an additional $30.1 million for a total of $246.2 million so far. The film is on track to become Pixar's biggest hit to date.
Terminator: Genisys, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke and Dayo Okeniyi, didn't stand a chance against the competition with a debut of $28.7 million.
Rounding out the top five were Magic Mike XXL and Ted 2, which earned a disappointing $12 million and $11 million, respectively. The Channing Tatum-starring stripper buffet rested entirely on the shoulders of women, who made up an unprecedented 96% of the audience, but didn't quite deliver the goods. Jada Pinkett Smith and Donald Glover also star in the film.
No matter, as far as we're concerned, Miss Jada still rocks. Watch her tell us why below:
