Killer Mike Sells Entire Catalog In New Deal with Reservoir Media

The Atlanta native entered into a new publishing deal that's part of a growing industry trend.

Killer Mike is officially joining the growing group of musicians selling parts or all of their discography.

According to a press release, the rapper turned philanthropist, recently signed a new publishing deal with Reservoir Media  to include “his entire catalog and future works.”

“A great publisher is a major key to success, and I’m excited to embark on this phase of my career with the dynamic team at Reservoir,” Mike said in a press statement regarding the new deal.

Reservoir Media’s Executive Vice President of A&R and Catalog Development, Faith Newman, also released a statement via Instagram describing the Atlanta native as being “a fixture of hip-hop for decades now,” before noting that “both his past successes and upcoming music continue to push boundaries and address deeply meaningful topics.”

Newman added that “artists and visionaries of his caliber do not come around often, and we are grateful to be the publishing home for such a trailblazing creator.”

Aforementioned, Mike is the latest artist to join the industry trend. Earlier this year, Grammy award-winning artist John Legend did something similar when the “Heaven” singer sold the copyrights alongside his right to receive royalties from songs dating from 2004-2021, Bloomberg reported.

DL Music IP LP, an affiliate of San Francisco-based KKR Credit Advisors (US) LLC and BMG Rights Management (US) LLC, each purchased a 50% stake in the catalog.
