Jennifer Hudson's custody battle with her former fiancé, David Otunga, just majorly escalated, as it was reported that their case is heading to trial.

Court documents obtained by The Blast stated that an Illinois judge has officially set the start of the trial for March 11, where the two will face off against one another in court.

The two, who are currently fighting over the custody of their 9-year-old son, David Daniel Otunga Jr., are set to embark on this process for approximately five days, per the judge's estimate. They both will testify in court and argue their respective cases for who deserves more custody and who should be the one to pay child support.

This comes just over a year after Hudson filed for a restraining order against Otunga after ending their 10-year relationship. She claimed he exhibited "aggressive, threatening and harassing behavior" toward her.

The Voice judge's rep explained to Page Six at the time of their split that the two have been going through the process of ending their relationship "for a number of months."

"Yesterday, Jennifer requested and received a protective order against her ex-fiancé," her rep continued. "Jennifer's actions are solely taken in the best interest of their son."

The "Spotlight" singer eventually dropped the order of protection. However, things only worsened for the former couple after the Academy Award winner violated a gag order Otunga received against her. As a result, he requested that she be held in contempt of court.
