Debra Lee to Be Honored at NAACP LDF Awards Dinner
Debra L. Lee, the Chairman and CEO of BET Networks, is set to be honored by the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund at the organization's 28th annual gala and awards dinner Thursday evening (Nov. 6) in New York City.
The Fund will give Lee the National Equal Justice award. This year's event will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision in Brown v. Board of Education and "acknowledge the family of Oliver Brown, a Kansas plaintiff in the historic" case, a statement reads.
Lee will be honored alongside Geoffrey Canada, the president of Harlem Children's Zone, who is receiving the Thurgood Lifetime Achievement award, and Bernard J .Tyson, the Chairman and CEO of Kaiser Permanente, who is receiving the Spirit of Justice award.
Emerging singer Jon Baptiste is also scheduled to perform at the ceremony.
