Don’t Ask LeSean McCoy About Chip Kelly Anymore
LeSean McCoy isn't backing down from his comments that Chip Kelly's offseason roster moves were racially motivated. He's just over the whole controversy and doesn't want to talk about the Philadelphia Eagles head coach any longer.
"I don't have to explain myself to nobody," McCoy told reporters Wednesday, when asked about his comments, according to ESPN. "I said what I said, said what I felt at the time and I'm done with that."
He added: "I never regret nothing I say. Never. Nothing I do. Never regret it."
Just because Shady was done talking about it, though, doesn't mean reporters were done asking. A few journalist kept prodding the star rusher with more questions about Kelly, but McCoy stood pat.
"Did you just hear what I just said here?" McCoy asked one reporter. "Then why did you...I just told you, I'm not talking no more about Chip Kelly or the Eagles. So I'm done with that. You can ask me about the Bills."
When another reporter tried to ask McCoy why he hasn't returned Kelly's phone calls, the running back snarled: "Yo? Are y'all listening to me? Can I say it any other way? I'm not talking about Chip Kelly or no Eagles. So I'll be done with this interview if nobody else has anything to say about the Bills."
Last month, McCoy made headlines when he said that Kelly "got rid" of "all the good black players," including him, during a feature story with ESPN The Magazine.
The Eagles traded McCoy in March, despite him rushing for 1,319 yards in the 2014 NFL season. Kelly dumped wide receiver DeSean Jackson, McCoy and wideout Jeremy Maclin in two seasons. All are black players.
Compounding those transactions is the fact that the Eagles awarded wideout Riley Cooper a five-year, $25 million deal in February 2014, months after he said the N-word during a country music concert in July 2013. Cooper is white.
