Taraji P. Henson Invites Angela Simmons To Share How She Survived An Abusive Relationship And When It Was Time To Leave
Actress Taraji P. Henson is sharing her personal experiences of being in an abusive relationship and is recalling that moment in her life on her Facebook Watch series, Peace of Mind With Taraji.
In a sneak peek of the latest episode entitled “Why Do Women Stay in Hurtful Relationships?” debuting on Monday, Oct. 25, Henson sits with her best friend and co-host Tracie Jade and special guest Angela Simmons to share stories of emotional and physical abuse by the actions of someone you love.
“Sometimes as women what we do is we fall in love and we go, 'You know what? I'll fix it later,'” Henson says. “For me it was when blood was drawn, because it started with the bruises and grabbing, things like that. And then once the fist came -- I'm missing a piece of my lip to this day -- that's when I knew I had to go.”
Simmons is on the show to tell her own story about surviving an abusive relationship where she suffered in silence, which ultimately impacted her mental health. Dr. Lena Green is the invited therapist who helps the audience see the signs of domestic violence and identify a way out.
Peace of Mind with Taraji, shines a light on better ways to manage typical mental health issues. New episodes debut every Monday at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET on Facebook Watch.
