Temptations Singer Richard Street Dead at 70
Richard Street, who was a member of the Temptations for 25 years, has died at the age of 70. Street's wife, Cindy, a former Motown vocalist, says her husband died early Wednesday at a Las Vegas hospital after battling a short illness.
Street, a Detroit native who relocated to Los Angeles, joined the revolving lineup of the Temptations in the early ‘70s, though he sang with group members Otis Williams and Melvin Franklin previously. He stayed with the group until the mid-1990s. Street is the second member of the Motown band to pass away within the last week. One time lead singer Otis "Damon" Harris died late last week after losing a battle with prostate cancer.
Cindy Street says funeral arrangements are incomplete, but she expects services to be held next week in Cypress, Calif. She says her husband "was a really good person" who should be remembered for his legendary work with the Temptations.
