Dwight Howard's Ex Also Investigated for Child Abuse
Last week, news broke about Dwight Howard being criminally investigated by the Cobb County, Georgia, police department for abusing his 6-year-old son.
Well, it turns out that the Houston Rockets' ex was also investigated for child abuse as well. According to TMZ Sports, Royce Reed was investigated by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) for using a belt on their 6-year-old son after his school informed authorities that he had been whipped on the back of his neck and leg. Reed reportedly admitted to using a belt on their son because he "dropped the f-bomb" in school. Although there weren't substantiated marks from the whipping and the case was closed, TMZ Sports says school officials accused Reed of using excessive force.
Reed is accusing Howard of the same charge. Originally, TMZ reported that the NBA superstar center was investigated and cleared of child abuse for hitting their son with a belt buckle, but that report was a bit premature. It turns out that he was cleared in Florida, but the actual disciplining of his son allegedly took place in Georgia, giving the latter state the right to pursue the case, which they put on a high priority level of criminal investigation last week.
Meanwhile, Howard has missed the last two games and is out indefinitely, according to ESPN, after undergoing platelet-rich plasma therapy on his strained right knee.
