This Rapper Allegedly Spent $4.1 Million On His Job’s Company Card To Fund His Rap Career And Now Faces 20 Years In Prison

The indictment details his alleged purchases, including buying social media followers and paying outside parties to boost his music streaming numbers.

It’s a classic tale of big ballin’ to big bars…and we don’t mean lyrics.

According to CBS Baltimore, Maryland rapper Chad Focus, real name Chad Arrington, is named in an indictment that alleges he spent a whooping $4.1 million on his job’s company card for unauthorized purchases, all of which they believe were used to fund lavish rap riches.

  • Prosecutors name some of the expenses in the indictment that range in the least costly to the most exuberant, from concert tickets and audio equipment, to billboards, social media followers and even payments to boost his music-streaming numbers. The site doesn’t name the company involved, but notes that he worked as a search engine analyst and was issued a credit card for business expenses (and business expenses only).

The site also claims that prosecutors believe the purchases were made between January 2015 and August 2016 and were solely to back his personal branding. “He was using that company credit card to make purchases for himself, to enrich himself and his own personal business and his brand,” CBS Baltimore reports of U.S. Attorney for Maryland Robert Hur’s statement.

  • Hur added that he ‘took a number of steps to basically cover up his tracks,’…

And made it hard for his employer to discover the theft over time, such as the alleged forged signatures of supervisors. Allegations also hold that he had help from others who digitally falsified billing statements.

Arrington is now up against charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and aggravated identity theft and could face 20 years in federal prison if found guilty.
