Miami High School Students Go Viral For Epic Fairytale-Themed Prom
The city of Miami took prom season to another level.
Students at Booker T. Washington High School turned their prom into a fairytale-themed spectacle with extraordinary fashions that have drawn comparisons to the Met Gala, the New York Post reports.
Titled “Once Upon a Time: Does the Shoe Fit?” the students unveiled modern fashion portrayals of characters from classic fairy tales such as “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Cinderella”, “Aladdin”, “Princess and The Frog”, and “Pirates of the Caribbean.”
At the event, students donned their finest haberdashery and were driven in luxury vehicles such as BMWs, Mercedes-Benzs, a Rolls-Royce, and more. One student even had a horse-drawn carriage according to videos posted on TikTok by Camilo Castro, a recent graduate of the school who goes by @laylow_camilo on the platform.
“My friends crushed prom,” Castro’s caption read in a clip that has been viewed over 3.9 million times and counting.
Some of the evening’s highlights included one couple dressed as Belle and Beast from Beauty and the Beast with the beast wearing a full costume headpiece.
Also, Princess Jasmine and Aladdin were cosplayed by two students who nailed it with every detail of their ensemble.
While the gala may seem extravagant to some, in the city of Miami, there is a long tradition of going all out for high school proms. But the class of 2024 set a new standard with their amazing outfits.
“This is the norm,” one teacher told the Miami Herald. “But this class set the bar a little higher because everyone understood the assignment.”
Below are some of the most creative outfits of the evening shared on TikTok.
