Keke Palmer, Missy Elliott, Ava Duvernay Tune Into Zola
A tragic story –– complete with emojis –– has made its way from the depths of the Internet to the minds of Entertainment's elite.
Gabourey Sidibe, Keke Palmer, Missy Elliott, Jackée Harry and Ava DuVernay are among the celebs wrapped up in what's now known as #ZolaAdventures, the viral account of two strippers who, "vibing over our hoeism or whatever," take a trip to Florida and wind up in the middle of a sex traffic ring and murder investigation.
It was written via 148 tweets, from Zola's perspective, and the candor, suspense, and even humor has Black Twitter demanding that it become a movie. Palmer and Meagan Good are among the actresses the Internet would like to cast as Zola.
DuVernay, one of the first to respond, tweeted, "She can write! There's so much untapped talent in the hood."
Palmer considered taking on the script, but then confessed she'd rather do one based on Sister Souljah's The Coldest Winter Ever.
Harry posted a gif poking fun at herself and one of the most classic set of 140-characters to come out of the web in a while.
As for the story itself, it has since been deleted from its original time line. Whether or not it's reality, has yet to be verified.
