Drake just made another big career move. According to Billboard, the Toronto native has signed to ASCAP, the nation's top performing rights organization.

Becoming a member of ASCAP adds the 25-year-old to a roster that includes longtime friend and collaborator Noah "40" Shabib, Eminem, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams and more.

"For me, a big part of making music is getting the opportunity to work with people I love, trust and respect," Drake said. "As an organization run by music creators, ASCAP represents a whole community of kindred spirits. Joining ASCAP was just a natural choice for me because I know my music is in the best possible hands."

Drake was previously signed to BMI.

Nicole George-Middleton, ASCAP's VP of Rhythm & Soul Membership, sees the move as an extension of the work the company has already been doing with Drizzy's colleagues. "We are really excited to build our longstanding relationship with Drake's team," George-Middleton explained. "Working from the beginning with his collaborators Noah '40' Shebib and Boi-1da, it felt only right to have Drake join the ASCAP family."

ASCAP's EVP of Membership Randy Grimmett shared in George-Middleton's sentiments, stating in part that the company is "thrilled," to have Drake on board. "This new addition only strengthens ASCAP's reputation as home to the world's greatest songwriters. We can't wait to see what's to come for Drake in the future."

In addition to signing with ASCAP, Drake is prepping the release of his third album, Nothing Was the Same. He recently headed back to his hometown to shoot the music video for the project's second single, "5 AM in Toronto."
