Source: Michael Vick May Play Against New York Giants
It would seem to defy logic to some, but sources are telling ESPN that if Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick passes all of his concussion tests and is officially cleared, he will play Sunday against the New York Giants.
Vick was knocked out of Sunday’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons in the third quarter after being spun hard into his own offensive linemen. Vick was a bit woozy after the hit but seemed to be alert shortly after, being pulled from the game and taken to the locker room.
Normally players take a little time away after suffering even a mild concussion because another blow can worsen the injury. But sources told ESPN that Vick split practices with backup Mike Kafka during Wednesday morning’s walkthrough practice.
Eagles head trainer Rick Burkholder told the Philadelphia media on Wednesday that Vick doesn’t have a lot of concussion symptoms, but he still needed to undergo more testing and also see an independent neurologist in the next day or two.
"Just because he doesn't have symptoms today doesn't mean he won't have symptoms tomorrow," Burkholder said to the media. "You can't predict."
Coach Andy Reid wasn't sure whether Vick would practice Wednesday afternoon.
"It's hard to give you the future because you have to do things the right way and go through the process," Reid said.
