Big Sean Confirms He And Jhené Aiko Are Working On Another Album Together
Big Sean and Jhené Aiko collaborative history goes way back.
The Detroit rapper and R&B singer collaborated on “I’m Gonna Be,” in 2012, which was on Sean’s acclaimed Detroit mixtape. The two continued to collaborate with one another over the years and eventually began dating.
They eventually musically connected for the joint venture, TWENTY88, under which they released their first and, thus far, only self-titled, 8-track album in 2016. The acclaimed record remains a classic favorite among fans and fans have been eagerly anticipating another collaborative project from them. Both have hinted at follow-up to Twenty88's debut amid their respective solo releases over the years, though it's yet to materialize. Fans hopes were dashed after the two amicably broke up in 2018. However, they musically reunited on “Single Again” and “None Of Your Concern” last year.
Fans' hopes were further revived after Sean and Aiko brought back the moniker on “Body Language,” for Detroit 2, Sean’s latest album release. The last time the two collaborated as Twenty88 was on “OLLA (Only Lovers Left Alive) for Aiko’s album, Trip, which dropped in 2017.
It has given fans hope of a proper TWENTY88 reunion and this week the Detroit rapper confirmed that he and Aiko have been in the studio working on the long-awaited follow-up to their joint album.
Earlier this week on Wednesday (September 16), Sean held an AMA session on Reddit to chat with fans where he confirmed that the two are working on a sequel.
“I really like ‘Time In,’” one fan wrote. “Are you guys working on a new TWENTY88 album?” Sean gave the affirmative, responding back, “It’s in the works.”
