Though his heavily anticipated third album has been pushed back a week, it's not all bad news for Drake fans. The OVO Sound leader will take the MTV Video Music Awards stage Sunday (Aug. 25), news which he tweeted out early this morning, "Excited to announce I'll be performing at the 2013 MTV VMA's!!!"

The set adds Drizzy to a growing performance list featuring Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, and show opener Lady Gaga.

Meanwhile, Nothing Was the Same's release date has been moved from Sept. 17 to Sept. 24, and is "almost done" according to a tweet from producer Noah "40" Shebib.

Even though lots of new Drake music has been dropping all summer (like the remix to Migos' "Versace," and "All Me"), the album has spawned only two official singles, "Started From the Botttom" and "Hold On, We're Going Home."  

Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Hudson Mohawke and more are among the names on the guest list, as well as 16-year-old production phenom Ebony "Wondagurl" Oshunrinde, who was commissioned to bring the Grammy Award-winning rap star "a banger." 

While there's no explanation behind the album delay, the new release date closer coincides with Drake's upcoming Would You Like a Tour? run launching Sept. 25.
