Jhené Aiko Pens A Heartbreaking Message About The Night She Almost Died
Slauson Hills sweetheart Jhené Aiko is known for her angelic yet downright salacious music as well as her habitual social media absences. After shocking fans with the news that she covered up her jaw-dropping tattoo of rumored beau, Big Sean, the R&B singer's digital presence resorted back to her signature coy antics.
Last night (Nov. 29), Jhené posted a series of three images and told the story of the night she presumed she was going to die. Amid emerging from her very private life, the first picture was captioned, "im going to tell u a story..."
Prior to taking the image below, in spite of feeling like she "was on the right path to healing," the 'Trip' singer found herself throwing up blood...
"I thought I was going to die," she began. "I had just spent the day at the Maui Healing Center 2 days prior and left feeling so renewed, enlightened and like i was on the right path to proper healing. The next day, which was the day b4 i took this picture...i took a hike [...] and visited my favorite statue of Buddha..."
Despite having a seeming perfect day, that night was when everything changed. "My head started pounding like never before. so much pain BUT i promised myself... no more pills!! EVER! [...] i found myself on the bathroom floor... throwing up until i saw blood," Jhené sadly said.
The "Frequency" soulstress divulged about her drug addiction and internal struggles while coping her brother, Miyagi's death on her latest album, 'Trip'
In an interview with Complex, she felt it'd be "selfish" to commit suicide, despite, "finding a sense of peace in dying." Since the release of Trip, she revealed she's been sober and has since found more "productive" ways to cope with her depression and grief.
After Jhené saw blood, she revealed she reached out to "a few people [she] loves," unsure of what to do, but "didn't want to worry or bother [anyone]." The next morning, she "was happy to be alive," so she went hiking, took in her "breathtaking view," thanked God and snapped this loving image that could "possibly be [her] next album cover."
After the life-altering moment, she "dipped [herself] into the Pacific" and wrote this. "It felt like a baptism of some sort. never too late to start again. never too late to get better."
As a final farewell before submerging back into her solitude, Jhené wrote, "you're stronger than you think, kid. keep going"
