Report: Lionel "Chinx" Pickens Fatally Shot in New York

Queens rapper, best known as a signee of French Montana's Coke Boys Records, was hit multiple times during a drive-by.

Tragedy struck the Coke Boys crew early Sunday morning when rapper Chinx was shot and killed in a car in Queens, New York. He was 31.

Chinx, real name Lionel Pickens, died after suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. Another person was reportedly in the car, and is now in critical condition at Jamaica Hospital, reports ABC7. The gunman openened fire from another vehicle.

AllHipHop.com first reported the news, which has since been confirmed by Chinx's management on social media. The incident occurred around 5 a.m. on May 17. According to the site, a suspect has not been apprehended by police yet, though a post to Chinx's Instagram may offer a lead. A user by the name of @teamshabbaofficial wrote, "I told him we would catch him. Rest in piss, b***h," alongside an emoji of a gun. The user page has since been taken down.

French Montana's protégé is being mourned by his friends in the hip hop community, with everyone from Meek Mill to DJ Premier reacting to the shocking news with grief and disbelief. "This is the reason I don't f**k wit the hood no more," wrote Meek, while Lil Durk, who recently collaborated with Chinx on the track "Gone Lie," posted a photo of the late rapper on Instagram with the caption, "crazy world rip."
