Kelly Rowland Talks About New Album and Destiny's Child
Kelly Rowland's new album Here I Am dropped today and the singer recently talked to Billboard.com about working with Lil Wayne as well as other top names and dispelled rumors that Destiny's Child would be reuniting.
Rowland had worked with Weezy back in 2004 for Destiny's Child's "Soldier" and collaborated with him again for her latest record's first single "Motivation" and she said the result was breathtaking. The track went on to reach No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart
"He's just an artist that loves music," Rowland says of Lil Wayne. "You can tell that just by how genius he is on his records. When I loved this record ["Motivation"], I was hoping he would love the record. And you can tell that it vibed with him or it connected with him in some sort of way for him to do what he did on this record because when I got it back -- I literally was at a loss for words."
As for a reunion with former Destiny's Child members Beyonce and Michelle Williams, Rowland says even though the three women remain close friends, those rumors are just that. "To be honest with you -- myself, Michelle and B -- we haven't talked about it. It has not come up in our conversations. We talk about everything else... But we haven't talked about that yet," she says adding that they're each happy in the space they're in.
With a new album out and a side gig as judge in Britain's "The X-Factor," we'd say Rowland has quite a lot going for her already.
