SZA and Kelly Price Offer Jazmine Sullivan Compassion Almost a Year Following Her Mother's Death
Jazmine Sullivan is receiving support from her sisterhood with SZA and Kelly Price.
In a touching post on social media, Sullivan, 37, shared a video montage to commemorate her April 9th birthday, including a fitness session, memories from Dreamville 2024, and a fun moment doing karaoke with friends. But in the caption, she pulled back layers on her secret heartache.
"I miss my mommy! I tried so hard to keep busy for my birthday to distract myself, but I don’t think it works like that," Sullivan wrote in a post on Instagram.
She continued, "I cried all month. I’ll cry for the rest of my life. But I’ll also smile, laugh and dance in between the tears! So thank God for that! ❤️."
In July 2024, the multi-BET award winner announced that her mom, Pamela, had lost her battle to breast cancer.
“I don’t have the words yet mommy. So for now I’ll say thank you thank you thank you. Rest now butterfly 🦋 10/26/58- 07/22/23 💔."
As Sullivan continues to grieve, she has received support from her peers in the music industry.
"One day at a time beautiful ❤️🙏🏽," said Price." SZA chimed in "I Love you so bad . We’re all praying for you ❤️."
Gospel singer, Tye Tribbet added, "🙏🏿peace to the mind n comfort to the heart my sis❤️."
