Jay-Z has turned his track "Picasso Baby" into a work of art in itself.
The rules-breaking rapper performed the track, off of his new album Magna Carta Holy Grail, for six continuous hours at Pace Gallery in New York City to the thrill of onlookers (among those in the audience was renowned collage artist Wangechi Mutu). The performance, which was taped for use in an upcoming music video, became a piece of performance art unto itself.
The music video that will result from the performance is one of the "six pieces of art" Hov promised during his impromptu Twitter Q&A on Tuesday. Surely it will get fans excited for what he has in store for the next five.
Art in all its forms seems to be a big influence on Jay-Z's new album, which features tracks name-dropping everyone from contemporary artist Jeff Koons to fashion designer Tom Ford. Hov even revealed the cover art for the disc at the Salisbury Catherdral in England, site of one of four remaining copies of the real Magna Carta document.
