Amar'e Stoudemire Producing Horror Movie
Amar'e Stoudemire is already a player for the New York Knicks and a budding fashion designer, but he's adding one more gig to his ever-expanding resume: movie producer. The New York Post reports that Stoudemire is negotiating with Relativity Media’s Ryan Kavanaugh to sign on as executive-produce of the horror film The Strangers 2.
It's a sequel to 2008’s The Strangers. That film, starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman, was about a couple being terrorized by masked assailants while staying in an isolated summer house. The film was produced for a modest $9 million, but went on to gross $80 million worldwide.
The NBA star told Page Six, "Ever see The Strangers? It's a scary movie ... It's crazy.” Soudemire’s agent, Happy Walters, is responsible for linking the 6’10 athlete with Kavanugh. In addition to potentially financing a horror movie, Stoudemire will be filming a cameo for HBO’s Entourage, and will make an appearance in the comedy New Year’s Eve. He's also launching a women’s clothing line with designer Rachel Roy in the fall.
