Charles Barkley Explains His 62 Lbs Weight Loss: 'I'm Working Out, I'm Taking My Shot Once a Week'

The NBA legend has committed to a healthier lifestyle.

Charles Barkley is taking control of his health the way he once took control on the basketball court. The retired NBA legend and sports commentator shared that he has lost 62 pounds as a result of changing his eating habits, exercising, and with the help of a medication called Mounjaro.

The 60-year-old shared the good news with fellow sports commentator Pat McAfee, according to PEOPLE.

"I'm working out, I'm taking my shot once a week," he says, referring to Mounjaro, which is used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes.

"I started at 352 [lbs.], he said. "And I'm down to 290. I'm starting to feel like a human being, not a fat ass anymore."

He then said his goal weight was 270 lbs.

"My doctor told me, she says, there's a lot of fat young people. Ain't a lot of fat old people, they're all dead."

Barkley is one of the top rebounders of all time and said that while he doesn't know exactly how the medicine works—he does take the shot faithfully every week.

Mounjaro is in the same family of drugs as Ozempic and Wegovy which are injectables that have been approved for weight loss by tricking your mind into thinking that you are full.

Called the “worst kept secret in Hollywood,” Barkley is one of the few celebrities to admit to using the drug for weight loss.
