Watch The Throne: 5 Artists with the Most BET Awards Ever
Nominees for the 2020 BET Awards have been announced and Drake leads the pack with six nominations. Megan The Stallion and Roddy Ricch are not far behind with a total of five nominations each.
As we wait to see who takes home the top prizes this year (June 28 at 8 pm EST), let’s reminisce on the most winning BET Awards artists of all time.
Beyoncé (29)
Including two wins with Destiny’s Child, Beyoncé tops the list of BET Award winners with a whopping 29 trophies. She won at the very first BET Awards in 2001 for Best Female Group and in 2019, she won for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. In the years in between, Beyoncé picked up wins across multiple categories including Video of the Year (The Lemonade album provided a bevy of stunning visuals), Album of the Year, and Viewer’s Choice. With four nominations this year, it’s safe to say that King Bey will continue to sit on the most wins throne for a while to come.
Chris Brown (15)
Coming in at a distant second is Chris Brown with 15 BET Award wins. He nabbed his first BET Award trophies in 2006 for Best New Artist and Viewer’s Choice for “Yo (Excuse Me Miss).” He was a fresh-faced teenager at that time. Over the years, Brown has continued to make music, perform, and rack up awards. He is an agile dancer, so it is no surprise that some of his wins are for Video of the Year and Viewer’s Choice. Brown is nominated for four awards this year.
Drake (13)
Drake is nipping at Chris Brown’s heels for second place and he has a chance to do it this year. The Canadian rapper is nominated for six BET Awards this year to add to his 13. Drake is tied with Kendrick Lamar for most wins in the Best Male Rapper category (4) and the “In My Feelings” emcee has also won for Video of the Year.

Serena Williams (12)
It is a well-known fact that Serena Williams is the G.O.A.T., so of course her BET Award wins are for Sportswoman of the Year. The athleticism and determination she brings to the game of tennis are undeniable and her talent doesn’t stop there. She had a notable part in Beyoncé’s BET Award-winning video for “Sorry” off of the famed Lemonade album.
Nicki Minaj (11)
There’s no pickle juice in the green room for Ms. Nicki Minaj. The Queens rapper has earned an impressive 11 BET Awards throughout her career and she’s nominated for four more at this year’s ceremony. Like her male counterpart Drake, Nicki Minaj has the most wins in the Best Female Hip Hop Artist category (7). She has also won for Viewer’s Choice. At the 2018 BET Awards, Nicki Minaj put on an epic show that is one of the most talked-about performances in the show’s history. It involves a Chinese temple, leather, and a pink sparkly horse. You just have to watch it!
