Kendrick Lamar Shatters Spotify Record With Diss Track 'Not Like Us'
Wherever you stand in the long-awaited rap battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, it’s safe to say that K Dot’s strategy has yielded him some wins with “Not Like Us,” breaking a Spotify record that Drizzy once claimed as his own.
According to ChartData, the fiery diss track set the record for the biggest single-day streams of a rap song, surpassing Drake and Lil Baby’s “Girls Like Girls” on May 7 (Tuesday).
Additionally, “Not Like Us” delivered the biggest streaming day for a rap song so far in 2024–supplanting the 6.593 million daily streams of “Girls Like Girls.” In total, the diss track has accumulated more than 11 million streams and counting.
Less than 24 hours after dropping the haunting “Meet the Grahams,” Kung-Fu Kenny dropped “Not Like Us” on May 4 (Saturday). Produced by DJ Mustard, the track instantly became a sensation on social media. To add insult to injury, an aerial view of Drake’s estate known as "The Embassy” was depicted with numerous red sex offender symbols placed on the home.
Kendrick raps, "Certified lover boy, certified pedophile/Wop, wop, wop, wop, wop, Dot f**k 'em up/Rock, rock, rock, rock, rock, I'ma do my stuff/Why he trollin' like a b***h? Ain't you tired?/Tryna strike a chord and it's probably A-Minorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr."
Taking it to another level, Kendrick accused Drake of using hip-hop culture for his own gain.
Kendrick rapped, “Let me break it down for you, this the real n***a challenge/You called Future when you didn't see the club/Lil Baby help you get your lingo up/21 gave you false street cred/Thug made you feel like you a slime in your head/Quavo said you can be from Northside (what?)/2Chainz say you good, but he lied/You run to Atlanta when you need a few dollars/No you not a colleague, you a f**kin' colonizer.”
Drake dropped “The Heart Part 6” in response on May 5 (Sunday), however, the momentum of “Not Like Us” has overshadowed The 6 God’s latest track.
