Herman Cain Is a Bestselling Author
Life just keeps getting better and better for Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain. He’s winning straw polls. He tied with both Rick Perry and Mitt Romney in respective Washington Post/ABC and CBS polls published this week. And now he can add "top-selling author" to his list.
This Is Herman Cain!: My Journey to the White House, the former Godfather Pizza executive’s new memoir, rose to the top 10 at Amazon.com Tuesday and hardcover copies of the book are out of stock until Friday at the online bookseller. The book looks back at Cain’s childhood in the segregated South and ahead to what he hopes will be a successful journey to the White House.
In an interview on Fox and Friends, Cain recalled how when he was growing up his family was very poor, but the children didn’t realize it because their parents worked so hard.
“I started out ‘po’, which is one level below poor. We had to work up to poor. But the thing about it, we didn’t know we were poor because my parents embraced the opportunity to work for what it was that they wanted to achieve,” he said. "My mother was a maid. My dad was a barber, a janitor and a chauffer, because his philosophy was: I’ll work three jobs until I can live off of two. I’ll work two until I can make it off of one.”
The book’s final chapter deals with his desire to become the nation’s 45th president. In the Fox interview, Cain noted that 45 just happens to be his lucky number.
“I was born in 1945. I would be the 45th president and my wife and I will be celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary,” Cain said. “How about them apples?”
