Too Short Gives Queen Latifah Odd Shoutout During Verzuz Against E-40
During the battle of the Bay Area Verzuz featuring E-40 and Too Short, the Saturday night (Dec. 19) celebration came with a few surprises.
The two legendary producers shared stories and their favorite classics they had the pleasure of creating over the last several decades. Too Short also noted that the hip-hop community was instrumental in both his and E-40’s successes, and said women rappers deserve credit, too.
Too Short thanked Lil Kim for her hit single, “Call Me.” He also gave Kelis a shoutout for “Bossy,” which he served as a collaborator. But he also took a special moment to shout out Queen Latifah.
Short’s is also known for the coined adlib, “B***h,” which he used throughout the Verzuz night. But he also let it be known that he doesn’t call certain women in the industry his popular word. Listeners tuned into Verzuz quickly brought up Latifah’s song, “U.N.I.T.Y.,” and the famous line, “Who you calling b***h?”
Fans and viewers tuned into the show were quite confused about what Too Short meant, including Black Twitter:
While Too Short’s confusing take on a compliment had social media buzzing on Dec. 19, the duo had over 250,000 fans tuned in on Instagram and kept the virtual crowds engaged with hilarious dance moves, classic anthems, and, of course, nostalgia.
