Nelly Plans to Drop New Album This Year

The St. Louis MC is heading back to the studio.

Rapper Nelly is ready for another round. The rapper/fitness enthusiast recently announced that he’ll be heading back to the studio to try to pump out his next studio album by the end of the year.

The 36 year-old rapper made the announcement about the follow-up to 2010's 5.0 during a visit to The Today Show yesterday [May 18] to promote his fitness DVD series, Celebrity Sweat

“I’ll hopefully have a new album coming out at the end of this year. I’m going back in,” he told Today Show hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. “The last album, 5.0, was phenomenal- ‘Just a Dream,” 4 million and things.”

For now, Nelly is still focused on the workout video which features the St. Louis MC and his celebrity friends doing strength-training exercises.

Nelly also recently shot a video with Keri Hilson’s “Lose Control,” the next single off her No Boys Allowed LP.
