Love & Hip Hop: New York 's Mendeecees Harris Pleads Guilty to Drug Trafficking
Love & Hip Hop: New York star Mendeecees Harris may be tying the knot with his fiancée, Yandy Smith, next month, but he won't have much time to celebrate as he now faces up to 40 years in prison following his recent guilty plea.
According to TMZ, Harris, 36, recently struck a plea deal in the case, resulting in him facing five to 40 years in the federal pen, being fined $5 million or both. The LHHNY favorite was busted by the feds for leading a drug trafficking operation that shipped cocaine and heroine to Rochester, N.Y., for seven years.
Making matters even worse for the reality star, he has also been ordered to surrender all of his checks from the television show and paid appearances. Harris's attorney Donald Thompson told Democrat & Chronicle that his client gets paid per episode, and the amount he has earned has totaled more than $103,000, all of which the federal government will keep.
During his appearance in court, Harris admitted to being involved in the conspiracy that lasted between 2005 and 2012. Though he has pleaded guilty to the charges, he will remain free on a $600,000 bail package until his sentencing on August 31, giving him time to shoot his wedding special with Smith titled Love & Hip Hop Live: The Wedding.
Harris's co-defendants, Ronald Walker and his little brother Tyrus Harris, both previously pleaded guilty for their roles in the operation. Walker is now serving 10 years in federal prison.
