Police Officer Reveals Shocking Details Of Eminem Home Invasion
The police officer who responded to the home invasion at Eminem’s house in suburban Detroit testified in court on Wednesday (September 9) where he revealed that the suspect in the case issued a lethal threat to the hip-hop superstar during the ordeal.
“When Mr. Mathers asked him why he was there, he was told by Mr. Hughes that he was there to kill him,” Hackstock said in his testimony, according to the Detroit Free Press.
The testimony came during a preliminary examination in the Macomb County District Court for Matthew David Hughes, 26, who was accused of unlawfully entering the rapper’s residence on April 5.
Clinton Township police officer Adam Hackstock testified that he arrived at Eminem’s house inside of a gated community to find a security guard had subdued Hughes on the ground. Hughes was taken into police custody that night where he has remained since the incident. Following the scuffle, Hackstock took a statement from the Shady Records boss.
In court yesterday, Hackstock said that Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, recollected that he was awakened after an alarm was set off in the middle of the night. He found a man standing over him, who he at first thought he was his nephew. But it turned out to be an intruder, according to the Free Press.
Eminem wasn't not in court on Wednesday, but his attorney oversaw the proceedings by video.
Hughes has allegedly been stalking Eminem for some time. Earlier this year, he was caught trespassing on two properties looking for the rapper prior to the April break-in, according to a TMZ report from May.
Hughes is currently facing two felony charges. He is charged with first-degree home invasion and malicious destruction of property. He is being held on a $50,000 bond.
