NEW SERIES “GAMES DIVAS PLAY [WT]” KICKS OFF PRODUCTION ON BET NETWORKS
BET is kicking off production of the new scripted series, “GAMES DIVAS PLAY [WT],” from Executive Producer Tracey Edmonds and starring Lauren London (BET’s “The Game”). Based on the popular book of the same name by Angela Burt-Murray, “GAMES DIVAS PLAY [WT]” is a sexy, stylized drama about the L.A. high life, where everyone plays to win. A desperate basketball wife trying to protect her family, a tenacious journalist struggling to rebuild a tarnished career, and a scandalous groupie looking to become a star, find it’s murder trying to stay on top. The series will also star actress Parker McKenna Posey, who has transformed from her role on hit comedy “My Wife and Kids,” and fresh face Karen Obilom whose recent roles have included guest turns on “Insecure” and “NCIS: New Orleans.” Production just kicked off in Los Angeles on November 29th, and the one-hour drama will premiere in 2019, with a 10-episode season.
Lauren London will portray Vanessa King, a loyal yet skeptical wife, who married her high school sweetheart as he was being drafted into the nation’s premiere professional basketball league. Her lifestyle changed overnight as they went from college sweethearts to a power couple astride a world of money, easy sex, and glamour. No stranger to BET audiences, London starred in hit series “THE GAME” for two seasons. A Los Angeles native, Lauren London’s career skyrocketed after starring in the film, ATL, opposite actor and recording artist, Tip "TI" Harris. Parker McKenna Posey plays Laila James, a cunning and alluring, yet struggling actress. When she realizes that she’s never going to get ahead based on pure talent, she decides to embrace her sexy, flashy side to get ahead on social media. She finds that in LA, fame is the ultimate drug. Multitalented Parker McKenna Posey is an actress, singer, philanthropist, and curator. With a career starting at age 4, her early roles included starring in hit sitcom “My Wife and Kids” opposite Damon Wayans and Tisha Campbell. The Los Angeles native has blossomed into a fierce young woman with recent credits including FX’s gritty “Snowfall.” The young philanthropist is also deeply involved with the Stand Up to Cancer Foundation. Posey is represented by Electric Republic.
Karen Obilom plays Nia Bullock, a quick-witted, smart and savvy blogger, who gets a new job that she thinks is going to launch her long-dreamed-of journalism career. But as it turns out, this new job pulls her into the world of celebrity gossip – big names, high stakes, and never-ending scandal. Hailing from Austin, Texas, Karen Obilom was most recently seen on award-winning shows like, “Insecure,” “NCIS: New Orleans,” and “NCIS: LA.” Obilom also appears in the 3rd episode of “Medal of Honor” which is currently streaming on Netflix.
