Magic Johnson and his wife Cookie have been through some major obstacles over their 23-year marriage and even considered separating, the pair tells Ebony in the July 2014 issue.
"We had our ups and downs," Cookie said. "We had a period where we were about to separate. There was a point where I was home all the time; he was working," she continued. "Sometimes you start growing apart a little because he's seeing new adventurous stuff. He's out in the world. He's growing. [But] I'm stagnant."
Luckily, the pair managed to work through their marital issues and Johnson said that his willingness to change is what saved their relationship adding that his biggest wish was to grow old with his wife.

"If I had kept going [that way] and the kids left, we would probably be divorced," he said. "Now we're so connected to each other, but it took that situation to bring us back."
Cookie also added that focusing on her own ambitions (like growing her luxury denim line CJ Jeans) helped her feel more fulfilled and in turn strengthened Johnson's attraction to her.
