L'Oréal has partnered up with New York Coalition of One Hundred Black Women to host 46 young women for the organization's annual mentorship program in New York City. The week-long Role Model Program teaches them career skills for various fields through workshops, presentations and mentor shadowing.
The coalition aims to promote women empowerment and encourage them to pursue leadership roles and their multi-year partnership with L'Oréal will help the program expand its reach. This year, 14 high school and 32 college students chose to participate in the career readiness program rather than head to the beach during their spring break.
The Role Model program, which was created in 1979, is the coalition's signature program and since L'Oréal's initial grant in 1999, it has received more than $300,000 from the brand and $15,000 in scholarships for participants.
