Larenz Tate on What Men Can Learn From 'Girls Trip'
A lot of times, guys are quick to label movies as a “chick flick” just because the main cast is majority women.
Larenz Tate wants to change that thinking. During a recent sit down with BET, the actor explained why his latest film, Girls Trip, is for everybody.
“It may be labeled a ‘chick flick’ but it really isn’t. I always encourage guys to see this movie,” he said. “Your girl goes on a trip, there’s things that might happen, there’s definitely things she’s going to see. If you kind of want to know what happens on a girl’s trip, this is the movie.”
Tate also feels his movie can be an accurate representation of what happens when girls travel together, and says how a new type of conversation can start when they return home from some time away.
“I feel like men can take away a slice of reality, of what are the possibilities,” he explained. “It’s not about frustrating or causing any sort of confusion or conflict within a relationship, I think people need to be honest about what happens on a trip. There are guys trips, so guys come in and say, ‘Yeah babe, you know we went on a guys trip, yeah there were a couple girls, yeah we was at the strip club.’ But women don’t say that.”
Girls Trip is slated to hit theaters this Friday (July 21). Watch the full Larenz Tate exclusive interview segment below.
