This Day in Black History: March 19, 1968
Students seize administration building at Howard University.
On this day in 1968, students at Howard University began a sit-in at an administration building that would last five days. The students demanded campus reform and the establishment of more courses in African history. In all, more than 100 students would stand in solidarity for the cause and inspire the university to expand its African curriculum.
