A$AP Rocky Trial: Rihanna Returns, Rapper’s Former Friend Continues Testimony
Making a second, heads-turning appearance during A$AP Rocky’s gun assault trial was the rapper’s longtime partner and the mother of his two sons, Rihanna.
The 9-time Grammy winner attended day three of the trial on Wednesday, January 29, where she sat with Rocky’s mother, Renee Black, and his sister, Erica B. On Thursday afternoon, January 30, Rihanna reportedly sat between the women again, in the front row behind the defense table, as Rocky’s accuser, Terrell Ephron, was cross-examined. Ephron, formerly known as A$AP Relli, has claimed that in November 2021, Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, shot him, with the bullets grazing his left hand.
Although it was once again unpermitted for the singer and entrepreneur to be photographed, courtroom artist Mona Shafer Edwards sketched Rihanna wearing a flowy white top and tie.
According to Rolling Stone, the courtroom erupted as Rocky’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, questioned Ephron and was upset by inquiries about his allegedly showy Instagram posts.
“I don’t see how you’re basing me as a person on my Instagram,” Ephron said.
As Judge Mark S. Arnold announced a 10-minute recess for Ephron to be explained the questioning process, Ephron is said to have spoken directly at Rocky, saying, “You did it.”
“He’s staring at me,” Ephron told Judge Arnold, who demanded that he stop speaking to the defendant.
Ephron began his testimony on Tuesday, January 28, detailing that after being high school friends, he and Rocky had fallen on bad terms before their 2021 showdown near the W Hotel in Hollywood. Rocky has claimed that the firearm he used was a “prop gun,” intended to protect his friend, A$AP Illz, real name Illijah Ulanger.
Rocky, who declined a final plea deal of 180 days in jail, a seven-year suspended sentence, and three years of probation, faces a maximum sentence of 24 years.
