Report: Man Says DMX Robbed Him at Newark Gas Station
New York rapper DMX was recently accused of robbing a 21-year-old in Newark, New Jersey this past weekend, reports NJ.com.
The victim told police officials that he encountered the "Party Up" emcee and his entourage at an Exxon gas station around 12:30 a.m. on the 600 block of Route 21. After recognizing the rapper, he approached him and the two began talking.
"The two had a brief conversation about rap music and during the conversation, a male in DMX's entourage showed the victim a gun and demanded the victim's money," spokesperson Sgt. Ronald Glover said in a statement.
The victim then proceeded to take out $3,200 in cash from his pocket and, according to Glover, DMX "snatched the money out of his hand" before jumping into one of the four black Cadillac Escalades presumed to be driven by one of his entourage members. Following the theft, the victim followed the vehicle closely enough to make out the SUV's license plate. He then provided it to the police.
An investigation on the incident is currently in progress. No arrest has yet been made and no criminal charges have been filed.
If the reports are true, this would not be DMX's first run-in with the law. The rapper has had a constant record for years and has served time in jail for drug possession, animal cruelty and multiple parole violations including four arrests in 2013 alone on charges related to multiple traffic offenses.
