Grammy Awards 2024: Victoria Monét Wins Best New Artist
After being nominated for making music for others in the past, Victoria Monét is now in the winner's circle, and the honors are all hers.
History was made on Sunday night at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles at the Crypto.com Arena when the 7-time Grammy nominee was crowned Best New Artist.
While accepting the honor on stage, she thanked her Mom and painted a picture of her musical journey.
This recognition is 15 years in the making for the singer, who describes her trajectory as a thriving plant in the music industry that is like "soil... and my boots have been growing.”
While she admits that the word "Best" is subjective, she explained, “Best is the best version of yourself.”
In addition to winning Best New Artist tonight, Monét was recognized for Best R&B Album for "Jaguar II." That album also took home honors for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.
