The New York Giants just keep beating up on the New England Patriots...in two Super Bowls and now even a video game.
Congrats are in order for Giants' star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who edged Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski in votes to land the Madden 2016 cover. In doing so, Beckham Jr. joins a fraternity of NFL stars such as Marshall Faulk, Michael Vick and Ray Lewis to grace the hit video game's cover.
Beckham captured the imagination of football fans everywhere last year, pulling down a miraculous one-handed reception against the Dallas Cowboys in what many people regard as the greatest catch ever. It was part of his spectacular rookie season, which ended with 1,305 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns in only 12 games.
This Madden 2016 cover could serve as a spring board in super stardom for the 22-year-old.
"Man I just personally wanna thank all the love and support from everybody for voting today!! It's mean so much to be on the cover of Madden," Beckham tweeted Wednesday. "Truly honored and blessed! God has opened doors I would of never believed."
He even responded to the Madden curse, in which players who have covered the video game have been injured in the past.
"I believe in God and his divine plan not something that is wished upon of others! #WalkinByFaith," Beckham added.
Giants fans will be relieved when he gets through the 2015 season unscathed.
