Beyoncé Stalker Prompts Increased Security
It looks like Beyoncé will have some extra people in her entourage as she heads to London for a performance at the Sound for Change concert this weekend. UK paper The Sun reports that obsessed British fan Bassey Essien has sent Queen Bey several threatening letters recently, prompting an increase in security when she takes the stage for her 45-minute set at Twickenham Stadium.
It isn't the first time Essien has been targeted for harrassing Bey. In 2009, he approached her at an event in London and attempted to give her a book of notes that he had prepared about religion, saying that he was trying to help her. He also sent her disturbing letters, at least one of which claimed that the singer was an imposter who had murdered the real Beyoncé. His actions prompted an anti-harrassment suit, which she won in 2011.
But the latest batch of letters seems to indicate that he's back at it. According to an unnamed source, "Staff have been briefed on the situation and pictures of him have been passed around. They've been told to keep their eyes open and be extra vigilant."
The singer performed nine dates in London and Manchester earlier this year as part of The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour. No word if she employed additional security for those shows.
