See Alicia Keys’ Collab With Designer Stella McCartney To Support Breast Cancer Awareness
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and, in honor the cause, Alicia Keys has partnered with designer Stella McCartney to raise awareness.
Alicia Keys poses in Stella’s Ophelia Whistling Lingerie Set in poppy pink, which serves as a “reminder for all women to keep healthy and get regular breast checks.” Stella, who hosts an annual BCA campaign, explains how this matter is near and dear to her heart, having lost her mother to the cancer years ago. Alicia also shares that her mother is a breast cancer survivor, something she hasn’t really spoken about in the media before.
Alicia and Stella explain in an interview that they are “here to start a conversation and break the taboos and to really encourage everyone to go get checked.”
The Ophelia lingerie set will retail for $250 and will be available for purchase October 1 at Stella McCartney stores and online, as well as major retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Net-A-Porter. The set comes in two colors, poppy pink (as seen on Alicia) and a pale pink.
A percentage of all proceeds from the set will be donated to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Breast Examination Center in Harlem, where Alicia grew up, which offers “free quality care to its local community.” This is especially significant being that, according to statistics “there is a 42% chance of breast cancer mortality in African American women in the U.S.”
Alicia Keys may have been busy with her recent ELLE Brazil magazine cover, but not too busy to make a difference and spread awareness. Make sure you guys support the cause and, most importantly for the ladies, go get checked.
