Asian Doll Open Up About Grief After Sudden Death Of Boyfriend King Von In Next ‘Peace Of Mind With Taraji’
At only 26-years old, rapper King Von was on top of the world. He had just released his debut album, “Welcome To O’Block,” and was tasting the sweetness of success when an argument between two men escalated into violence. King Von was shot and killed during the confrontation, which occurred outside of a downtown Atlanta nightclub in early November. The Chicago rapper is one of about a dozen rappers who died suddenly in 2020, leaving friends and family to work through their unbearable grief.
Now, King Von’s girlfriend, rapper Asian Doll, is speaking out about that horrible tragedy and how she has been coping with his death on the next episode of Peace of Mind with Taraji on Facebook Watch.
Hosts Taraji P. Henson and Tracie Jade sit down with Asian Doll where she reveals intimate details about her relationship with King Von. She also addresses the backlash she received from publicly mourning him on social media and the moment she learned about his passing where she says, “my whole world crashed.”

Henson is all too familiar with this particular issue and personally understands the toll that profound grief can have on one’s mental health after experiencing a similar loss. The father of her son, LaMarr Johnson, was stabbed to death in 2003 at 34-years old, leaving Henson to raise their son on her own. She, too, had to put on the “strong, Black woman” mask to initially survive that trauma but ultimately found other ways to manage her pain.
The episode also features Obasi Jackson, the brother of up and coming rapper Pop Smoke, who died in February 2020 after being shot and killed during a home invasion. He was 20 years old.
