After a little over a month on the charts, Jay-Z and Kanye West's Watch the Throne has officially reached platinum status. The blockbuster collaboration LP sold 36,000 copies last week, pushing it to number nine on the Billboard Top 200 and into the RIAA's rarefied realm. The album recently spawned a third single, "N****s in Paris."
Hip hop's other recent eventful release, Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV, fared even better, selling 117,000 and landing at number three in its third week on the charts. C4, which sold 964,000 copies in its first week, was already a member of the platinum club.
The year's best-selling album, Adele's 21, continued its vice-like grip on the charts, selling 119,000 to place at number two.
