Former NFL Running Back Derrick Ward Arrested On Robbery Charges
Derrick Ward, a former NFL running back, was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department for his alleged involvement in a robbery, the.
On Monday (Dec. 18), Ward was brought into custody by the LAPD where he was booked on robbery charges according to LAPD Officer Annie Moran.
The department did not release any more details about the investigation.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department inmate records, Ward is currently being held on a $250,000 bail.
NBC News reported that sources in the police department said Ward allegedly “robbed at least five businesses, including gas stations.” without the use of a firearm.
After playing college ball at Fresno State and Ottawa University (Kansas), Ward was drafted in the seventh round by the New York Jets in 2004. In his 8-year career in the league, he played with the New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Houston Texans.
In 2008, Ward was a member of the historic Giants team that beat Tom Brady and the undefeated Patriots to win Super Bowl XLII.
Ward played a total 93 NFL games and posted 2,628 yards along with 15 touchdowns.
