Diddy Thinks Barack Obama Could Have Done A Lot More For The Black Community
Sean “Diddy” Combs got a little political this morning during a conversation with the Rev. Al Sharpton on MSNBC earlier today (September 4).
During the on-air interview, Diddy expressed that he feels while President Barack Obama has done “an excellent job,” but that there’s so much more than needs to be done. Considering this year’s Election Day is drawer nearer, the mogul feels as though it’s time for Black voters to “turn up the heat.”
“My number one thing, though, to be honest, is Black people,” the rapper began. “I feel like we put President Obama in the White House. When I look back, I just wanted more done for my people because that’s the name of the game.”
He then goes on to say that he’s not trying to diss Obama, but that he feels the Black community was a “little bit shortchanged” during his two terms.
“This is politics,” Diddy continued. “You put somebody in office you get in return the things that you care about for your communities. I think we got a little bit shortchanged. That’s not knocking the president. …He’s done an excellent job, you know, but I think it’s time to turn up the heat because the black vote is going to decide who is the next president of the United States.”
The conversation then shifted gears that Diddy doesn’t agree that Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton has a lead among Black voters, and that she, too, needs to step her game up.
“Hillary Clinton, you know, I hope she starts to directly talk to the black community,” Diddy added. “It really makes me feel, you know, almost hurt that our issues are not addressed and we’re such a big part of the voting block.”
Diddy has been a long-time supporter of Obama, and now that his term is coming to an end, is speaking out in a call to action for politicians to give back to communities and that he isn’t won over by either political candidate at this point.
“The heat has to be turned up so much that as a community we got to hold our vote,” the entertainer shared. “Don’t pacify yourself, really revolutionize the game. Make them come for our vote. It’s a whole different strategy but I think we need to hold our vote because I don’t believe any of them.”
“You can get the vote,” Diddy concluded. “It doesn’t have to be held that long. But you have to come get it. You have to bring something with it.”
