John 'Ecstasy’ Fletcher Of Legendary Rap Group Whodini Dies At 56

Celebrities like Questlove, Jermaine Dupri, Loni Love and more offer their condolences.

John “Ecstasy” Fletcher from the pioneering hip-hop group Whodini has passed away, according to Questlove of The Roots.

On Wednesday (December 23) via Instagram, Questlove wrote a beautiful tribute to the rap legend.

“One love to Ecstasy of the legendary #Whodini,” he captioned under a picture of Fletcher. “This man was legendary and a pivotal member of one of the most legendary groups in hip hop. This is sad man.”

Fletcher was 56 when he passed. A cause of death is not yet known.

In 1982, Fletcher formed Whodini along with Jahil Hutchins. DJ Grandmaster Dee would later join the group in 1986.

Together, the trio went on to record the hit singles “The Haunted House of Rock,” “Friends,” and “Freaks Come Out at Night.”
